The Winchester Orangery

So it’s Mother’s day! As Guernsey isn’t close to Winchester my housemate Lizzie and I decided to go out for brunch as neither of us had mums that live close.

We opted for the Winchester Orangery because we have been there a couple of times before and love the vibe! I went for a ham, cheese and mustard toastie with crisps and salad and I’ve got to say, it was really tasty! To make up for gluten-free bread being smaller, it includes three slices of bread which is really nice as it still feels like you are getting your moneys worth. The salad was dressed in a balsamic glaze which was honestly great and finished off the dish lovely.

To drink I went for a tropical smoothie. This included pineapple, mango and passion fruit and it was one of the best smoothies I have ever had. It was thick and creamy and there were no lumps in it which is exactly how I like it. A lot of the other smoothies included Oat milk which I assume I wouldn’t have been able to have but personally I didn’t mind that as the tropical smoothie is the one I would have had anyway.

To finish we decided to have some mocktails. We went for a raspberry and passionfruit martini which was really fresh and juicy. It was the perfect ending to a lovely afternoon.

Overall at the Orangery there was a really great selection of gluten-free options and the menu was marked up really clearly. I think this is one of the best restaurants I have been to in Winchester so I give it a 10/10.
