MY STORY
(As of the 6th October 2022)
So, coeliac disease and my diagnosis! Where do I start?

I got tested when I was 4 as I was struggling to put on weight and the blood test was positive so then I had an endoscopy which came back borderline. At the time, because I had no symptoms the doctors said I was probably growing out of it.
15 years on I start getting symptoms in November 2021. I just put it down to bad student / Christmas diet. By January there was still no difference so I go back to the doctor who said not to worry it will sort itself out. I then go back to the doctors in March as my symptoms had got worse. They said this time I had been on strong medication so just let my body sort it out.
April I go back again and they put me on medication and say once it starts working, try to ween myself off it after a while. Everytime I try to ween myself off it I go back to square one with all the same symptoms.
By this point, my symptoms are at their worst, my hair is falling out and my skin is shocking. In June I speak to a new doctor and I go through everything again and he suggests a blood test for coeliac, especially considering my first one was borderline and medical science now knows it is impossible to grow out of it. It comes back a high positive (32.5). Following on from that, I am also anemic, adding to my symptoms and get an endoscopy which also comes back positive.

So, that's my diagnosis story for now! Follow along with me while I recover from my symptoms and navigate my first year of being officially coeliac!
